Starting February 1, 2025, the OCPP Certification Program is advancing to better support vendors with more efficient testing and certification options. With a focus on making the certification process simpler and more accessible, new program enhancements will allow vendors to certify entire product families, reducing time and costs.
What’s New in the OCPP Certification Program:
• Introduction of “OCPP Product Families”: Now, a single representative product can be certified on behalf of an entire family of Charging Stations. Additional products in the family can be included on the certificate following a successful automated conformance test performed by the vendor.
• Enhanced OCPP Compliance Test Tool (OCTT): The OCTT now supports automated testing for product family members, with the new “Vendor Declaration of Conformance” feature allowing vendors to confirm that their products meet all relevant OCTT standardstest case requirements.
• Streamlined Re-certification: Automated testing can now be utilized for the re-certification of previously certified implementations, making the process faster, easier, and more cost-effective.
• Expanded Certification for OCPP 1.6: Following the introduction of Charging Station Software Stack certification for OCPP 2.0.1, this certification is now extended to OCPP 1.6, further expanding support for vendors.
Since its inception, the OCPP Certification Program has grown substantially, certifying over 200 products annually across OCPP 1.6 and OCPP 2.0.1, from basic Charging Stations to advanced DC chargers. These enhancements are based on feedback from certified companies and policy makers, aiming to maintain the high quality standards of OCPP certification while reducing the certification burden on the industry.
The updated certification guidelines will be available in December, providing ample time for vendors to prepare their certification strategies under the improved program.
