The Open Charge Alliance (OCA) is excited to announce the initiation of a working group focused on OCPP 2.lite. This initiative, set to begin on February 1st, aims to develop a ‘lightweight’ version of the OCPP protocol. The objective is to address the needs of specific markets, particularly those requiring cost efficient charging infrastructure for low-cost vehicles such as 2-wheelers and 3-wheelers.
Emphasizing the importance of cost-effectiveness of EV chargers, this project seeks to minimize resource wastage by avoiding unnecessary features. The workshop will explore the scope of OCPP2.lite, aiming for low data communication costs, minimal code, memory, and processing power requirements, thus ensuring low hardware costs. This initiative is a response to feedback from several OCA participants, and is a step towards innovative, cost-effective charging solutions in the EV industry.
If you want to participate, please join the OCA and sign up to our member platform.
