The Networking/ Local Controller and Cyber Security task Groups holds meetings every two weeks. Interested in shaping the future of OCPP? Become an OCA member and join the community on Causeway.
This meeting concerns a joint meeting to discuss the security requirements for local controllers recently shared with the Networking task group for inclusion in the Local Controller white paper.
The Local Controller is mentioned as a concept in OCPP. The task group aims to develop use cases with clear requirements for how a Local Controller should behave, including offline behavior, the possibilities of a Local Controller acting as a “Local CSM” and evaluating the already existing draft proposal for a routing extension to OCPP from the Networking Task Group.
With the rise of popularity of EVs and charging stations, the importance of protecting chargers and CSMSs from malicious actors is a top priority for OCA. With that in mind, the Cyber Security Task Group works on ensuring that the security component of the OCPP Protocol adheres to major security protocols around the world, along with any specific legislative directives or guidelines. Another focus is on preventing malicious actors from gaining access to communication between Charging devices and CSMSs. Lastly, this group works on simplifying the implementation of authentication and connectivity between Charging Devices and CSMSs.
