OCA established the OCPP Lite Working Group, that has defined the smallest possible implementation of OCPP 2.0.1. The objective of OCPP 2.Lite is to address the needs of specific markets, particularly those requiring cost-efficient charging infrastructure for low-cost vehicles such as 2-wheelers and 3-wheelers.
Emphasizing the importance of cost-effectiveness of EV chargers, this project seeks to minimize resource wastage by avoiding unnecessary features. OCPP 2.lite is aiming for low data communication costs, minimal code, memory, and processing power requirements, thus ensuring low hardware costs. This initiative is a response to feedback from several OCA participants, and is a step towards innovative, cost-effective charging solutions in the EV industry.
