Looking back on the OCA Member meeting Europe and the OCA Cyber Security Event
Fri 27 Mar 2026
On March 24–25, the Open Charge Alliance (OCA) welcomed members and industry professionals to Brussels for two dynamic days of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and forward-looking discussions on EV charging and cybersecurity. The strong turnout and high level of engagement once again showed the power of bringing the community together.
OCA Member Meeting Europe
The OCA Member Meeting Europe on March 24 set the stage for a full day of insights and interaction. The event kicked off with a networking breakfast, where participants reconnected with familiar faces and met new peers from across the EV charging ecosystem.
OCA Director Lonneke Driessen opened the program with a General Update, highlighting the continued growth of OCPP and the importance of evolving the protocol alongside a rapidly developing industry.
Updates from the Technology Working Group and Compliance Working Group, presented by their respective chairs, showcased the strong progress being made across key areas such as OCPP development, testing, and certification. These sessions reinforced how essential industry collaboration is in shaping open standards.
A key highlight of the day was the Test & Certification Panel, which sparked lively discussions and encouraged participants to actively share their experiences and challenges. This open exchange of ideas is what continues to drive improvement and alignment across the ecosystem.
The afternoon continued with task group updates and interactive discussions, before closing with “Meet the Board.” This informal session gave attendees the opportunity to engage directly with OCA leadership and continue the conversation in an open and approachable setting.
OCA Cyber Security Event
On March 25, the focus shifted to one of the most critical topics in today’s EV landscape: cybersecurity. Building on the recently published OCPP Security Operations Guide, the OCA Cyber Security Event provided timely insights into strengthening resilience and interoperability.
The day began with networking over coffee, followed by an opening from Glenn Cezanne and a keynote by Lonneke Driessen. Together, they highlighted the growing importance of cybersecurity, the role of OCPP, and the need for strategic control within Europe’s charging infrastructure.
A central highlight was the panel discussion on Cyber Security, Interoperability, and Digital Sovereignty in EV Charging. Featuring voices from OCA, industry, and the European Commission, the session offered a broad and insightful perspective on how policy and real-world implementation come together.
The event concluded with a walking lunch, giving participants the chance to reflect on the discussions, exchange ideas, and continue building connections.
Thank you!
Both days in Brussels were marked by strong engagement, valuable discussions, and a shared drive to move the industry forward. Events like these underline the importance of collaboration in shaping the future of EV charging.
A big thank you to all speakers, panelists, and participants for making these events such a success. Missed it this time? Make sure to join us at the next OCA event and be part of the conversation shaping the future of open charging standards.
