OCPP 2.1 accepted by IEC as IEC 63584-210
OCA is proud to announce that OCPP 2.1 Edition 1 has officially been accepted as an IEC standard. With the IEC voting now concluded, OCPP 2.1 will be listed on the IEC website in the coming weeks. Lonneke Driessen, CEO of OCA: “We are proud of this achievement, which brings us further on our journey towards convenient, efficient, and secure EV charging infrastructure all over the globe. I would like to thank the national committees supporting the publiciation of OCPP 2.1 as IEC standard.” This milestone represents the second IEC approval for OCA. OCPP 2.0.1 was already accepted as an IEC standard in October 2024.

About OCPP 2.1
OCPP 2.1, released in January 2025, builds on the capabilities of OCPP 2.0.1 with improved and added functionalities. It is designed for smarter, more efficient, and user-friendly EV charging solutions. For example, it offers support for ISO 15118-20, a new functional block on bidirectional charging, a new functional block on DER control, battery swapping and new authorization options.
