Charging infrastructure is considered critical infrastructure and consequences of security issues can have far-reaching consequences for the electricity grid and society. Security is therefore an integral part of both the OCPP specification and its certification programs. However noticed was that, in addition to the requirements and recommendations in the OCPP specification, the industry may benefit from a complementary guide for vendors to implement secure solutions.
To further support the practical and consistent implementation of these security requirements, this Security Operations Guide offers additional, hands-on guidance for implementers of OCPP Charging Stations and CSMSs. It complements the OCPP specification by translating requirements and recommendations into operational best practices that help build secure OCPP-based solutions.
This guide provides:
• A structured overview of key security-related regulations, including the specific security measures that apply to each regulatory framework.
• Guidance for implementers to create secure OCPP solutions, based on requirements and recommendations from the OCPP specification and additional guidance to use OCPP features in a secure way.
