News / OCA 10th Anniversary short recap

Last week, the Open Charge Alliance (OCA) proudly celebrated a decade of progress and innovation with an extensive three-day event. Bringing together hundreds of partners, members, sponsors, experts, and dedicated OCPP enthusiasts, the gathering was a unique opportunity not only to exchange knowledge and insights but to foster meaningful connections across the global OCA community.

We look forward to seeing fruitful collaborations arise from these interactions, helping to further amplify the mission of the OCA and the promise of OCPP worldwide. Through open standards and a commitment to an inclusive community, we are shaping the future of electric mobility on a global scale.

Reception and Dinner
The event opened with a lively reception and dinner at the H’Art Museum in the heart of Amsterdam. This elegant venue provided the perfect backdrop to recognize some of our pioneers: Brendan McMahon was celebrated for his unwavering commitment to OCA, and several task group members were honored for their critical insights, compelling use cases, and other significant contributions. For the first time, we also appointed four OCPP Ambassadors—experts from diverse fields dedicated to promoting OCPP within their extensive networks. Our new ambassadors are Amanda Brock, Rish Ghatikar, Riccardo Pagliarella and Kor Meelker

Conference Highlights

On Wednesday, October 23, the H’Art Museum again welcomed OCA for a conference attended by over two hundred enthusiastic participants. Following an energizing keynote from a distinguished guest speaker, who even got the audience dancing, Lonneke Driessen, OCA’s Director, invited key leaders from the OCA community to discuss the early days of OCPP and the evolution of the protocol.

Exhibition Space and Sponsor Networking

Alongside the conference, attendees had the opportunity to connect with sponsors in the Exhibition Space, where fifteen companies showcased their innovations and applications of OCPP.

Following the conference, four sponsors—Last Mile Solutions, KTL, Irdeto, and iHomer/Infuse—hosted a scenic boat tour through the canals of Amsterdam, offering attendees a memorable networking experience in a quintessentially Dutch setting.

OCPP Recognized as an IEC Standard

The morning session also saw Lonneke Driessen proudly announce that OCPP has been accepted as an IEC standard, marking a significant milestone in OCA’s mission to advance open protocols in electric mobility. It was also the opportunity to update the OCA and the OCPP logo.

Field Visits

On the final day, participants had the unique opportunity to visit a variety of companies, government agencies, and even an airport. These field visits enabled them to connect with policymakers, meet innovative OCA members, and gain insight into advancements in electric aviation.

The following companies, municipalities and professionals were participating as tour stops:
Gemeente Amsterdam, Gemeente Utrecht, Ministerie van Infrastructuur en Waterstaat, Vattenfall, Fastned, Irdeto, Alfen, E-Flight Academy, DEAC Dutch Electric Aviation Centre Teuge, DEKRA, ElaadNL, Allego and DNV.

Social Media and Community Engagement

For the OCA team, these three days were truly unforgettable. Judging by the enthusiastic response on LinkedIn and other social platforms, including numerous likes, reposts, and personal reflections, our participants felt the same. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to making this event a success, and we look forward to welcoming you again soon.
