On May 13 and 14, 2026, the Open Charge Alliance brings together developers, engineers, and EV charging professionals at the DEKRA’s Automotive Test Center of Excellence Detroit, Michigan for two days of interoperability testing, knowledge sharing, and networking.

What to expect

Expect two days of structured interoperability testing focused on OCPP 2.0.1 and 2.1, where participants are matched with multiple testing partners in a round-robin format. The Plugfest offers a practical environment to test implementations, identify issues, improve compatibility, and exchange insights with other EV charging professionals.

Networking
On Wednesday May 13th the event will conclude with an opportunity to networking while enjoying some drinks and dinner. Offering the perfect opportunity to connect with peers, partners, and industry leaders.

Join Beat for an update on ISO 15118, IEC 61851, and SAE, three key standards shaping the future of EV charging. While ISO 15118 focuses on the communication between the electric vehicle and the charging station, IEC 61851 covers the conductive charging system and its core charging functions. In this session, Beat will share the latest developments and explain what they mean for the evolving EV charging landscape.

Join Lonneke for an update on the impact of OCPP and ISO 15118 Amendment 1, and what these developments mean for the EV charging ecosystem. While OCPP enables communication between charging stations and charging station management systems, ISO 15118 Amendment 1 brings important updates to vehicle-to-charger communication. In this session, Lonneke will share insights into how these developments influence interoperability, standardization, and the future of EV charging.
