About us
The Open Charge Alliance (OCA) is a non-profit organisation founded in 2014. With members from all over the world, we focus on open standards and advancing the development of sustainable charging solutions.
Our vision
We envision a world with convenient, efficient, and secure EV charging infrastructure – open to every type of company, product, user and business model. We promote and enable open, flexible EV charging networks to power global EV adoption.
Our mission
We foster the global development, adoption, and universal interoperable use of communication protocol standards for EV charging infrastructure. Through collaboration, education, mutual compatibility testing, and certification, we support an open EV charging environment that encourages innovation and expands choice. We help deliver a reliable charging experience for consumers and regulators worldwide, and we assist the industry and EV drivers in the transition to electric mobility – for a sustainable future.

Organization
The Open Charge Alliance is an industry alliance governed by the OCA Board. The Board consists of five companies that represent all OCA members: Shell Recharge, ESB, ChargePoint, Pionix GmbH, and ElaadNL.
The Board is responsible for the annual plan and budget, establishing or ending working and task groups, and defining the overall strategy.
Within the OCA community, working groups are formed to focus on key areas. The current groups are the Technology Working Group (TWG) and the Compliance Working Group (CWG). These working groups can establish small, temporary task groups to research and address specific topics or challenges.
As a non-profit foundation, we reinvest the fees collected from members and from companies purchasing the OCTT to support the ongoing development and adoption of OCPP and other open standards.
For more information on the OCA structure please check the OCA Policies and Procedures.
Code of Respect and Antitrust Policy
At OCA, we unite the OCPP communty to drive OCPP forwards. We foster a safe, respectful and legally compliant environment. Our Antitrust Policy and our Code of Respect set the ground rules that make this possible.
