An OCPP Plugfest is an event where companies from the EV charging industry come together to test their OCPP implementations, exchange knowledge, and connect with industry peers. During a Plugfest, developers of Charging Stations and Charging Station Management Systems (CSMS) can test interoperability with multiple partners through structured testing sessions, helping to identify challenges and improve compatibility between systems.

From 21 to 23 October 2026, the Open Charge Alliance community will come together at the Canberra Institute of Technology in Canberra, Australia, for three days of knowledge sharing, interoperability testing, industry insights, and networking.

For developers, technical teams, and companies working with OCPP, the Plugfest provides a valuable opportunity to test implementations with other industry players. During the interoperability testing sessions, participants can:

  • Validate their OCPP implementations with different partners;
  • Identify and resolve interoperability challenges;
  • Exchange practical experiences with other implementers.

The testing sessions will support OCPP 1.6, OCPP 2.0.1, and OCPP 2.1 implementations, allowing participants to connect with other companies in a collaborative testing environment.

The event will start with a full conference day on 21 October, bringing together experts from Australia and around the world to discuss the developments shaping the future of EV charging. The programme will cover topics including:

  • Grid integration and smart charging;
  • Cybersecurity developments;
  • International and local market learnings;
  • Implementation and testing readiness.

The conference will be followed by a networking reception, providing an opportunity for participants to continue discussions and connect with fellow members of the EV charging ecosystem.

For those interested in learning more about interoperability testing, an observer programme will also be available. Observers will have the opportunity to experience Plugfest testing up close, attend demonstrations, and gain insights into how Plugfests contribute to improving compatibility across the charging ecosystem.

Whether you develop charging stations, CSMS platforms, software solutions, or work in utilities, policy, regulation, or cybersecurity, the OCA Plugfest & Conference Australia offers a unique opportunity to meet the community, test, learn, and help shape the future of EV charging.
